Strength Training

Strength Exercises, Weight Lifting, Anti-Gravity Exercises

Strengthening or weight lifting exercises allow the body, or a specific muscle, or muscle group, to improve its ability to exert power, lift and carry weight.  This can help to survive in adverse circumstances and adopt to more challenging life style or work requirements.

Training Effect

Strengthening exercises mainly benefit the specific muscle or muscle group that is being trained or strengthened.  The visible sign of muscle strengthening is muscle hypertrophy, an increase in the size or bulk of the muscle.  In contrast to the effects of conditioning exercises, strengthening results in fast fatiguing of the muscles.

Additional physical benefit:

In addition to the main training effect of strengthening of a muscle or muscle group, these exercises will strengthen other skeletal, soft tissue or weight bearing structural elements of the body, e.g. tendons ligaments, bones. Strengthening of the bones are carried out by increased calcium absorption and deposition in the bones.  Therefore, these exercises are useful in the prevention and improvement of osteoporosis.

Program and equipment:

Patients in our exerrcise programs receive detailed guidance about proper exercise regimens. Our state-of-the-art exercise equipment is specially designed for rehabilitative purposes and furnished with special safety features and modifications. It is critical, that the exercises are supervised and the equipment is safe, in order to prevent aggravations, setbacks or re-injuries.

If you are suffering of an orthopedic condition that resulted in muscle atrophy and weakness after a period of immobilization or inactivity and experiencing fatigue, strengthening exercises can help you regain strength.
